Life in Accokeek, MD

It was only two years ago when my son and I would go for walks in the neighborhood either for nap time for him or a break for both of us from being indoors. Going outdoors not only became our routine but a necessity for me. As a stay at home working mom, juggling work, being a new mom and the first time living outside the city – was too much to handle.

Today I was reminded of how blessed we are to be able to teach and show our son God’s #blessings and provide an outdoor living style for him where he can appreciate #nature. So you may think he is too big to be on a stroller, normally I’d agree, but after a busy day (doc appt and a fall), we needed some downtime. Some time to reconnect with our selves and each other. I’ve learned it is as important for me as it is for him, regardless of his age. So off we went to the dirt road, no cars in sight and, no human to disrupt us. It was the wind, the air, the birds (and most likely other creatures) and us on the road. We walked by a stream of water and we stopped to see and hear it flow. Interestingly, he remembered our walks.

Needless to say, I felt accomplished and a sense of pride when he stated the birds were singing a lullaby for him to nap. And so he got comfy, closed his eyes and zonked out. As for me, it served as a time to reflect on how good #God is with us at all times. #sundayreflection #lifeinaccokeek
